How will I be billed for my 5G services?

5G will issue you a monthly bill by email, unless otherwise stated. If you have multiple services with 5G, then you can take advantage of one monthly consolidated bill for all of your services.

Will I save money with 5G?

Absolutely. 5G guarantees to save you at least 10% on your current bill.

Why are some broadband services slower than the advertised speeds?

The main reason that you may receive slower than advertised speeds is due to your site's distance from the local exchange, which is a common factor when considering broadband speeds. Another factor that can affect speeds is the amount of users on the line at one time.

What is mobile broadband?

Mobile broadband allows for uninterrupted internet access, while on the move. Using mobile phone signals, mobile broadband allows you to receive full internet access throughout the country, at the same level service as you would get on your mobile phone.

Which network provides the best mobile broadband signal?

That really depends on your location. As with your mobile phone coverage, signal strength will be different depending on your location. So if, for example, your Orange mobile phone has bad signal at your home, your mobile broadband service will reflect this. Can VoIP services be used over mobile broadband?

In some cases it is possible, though some networks do block VoIP access. For those that do allow VoIP it should be noted that where mobile broadband signal is low, you may experience significant latency when talking.

How easy is it to set up mobile broadband?

Very easy, all of the necessary software is preconfigured on your dongle so when you receive your mobile broadband, it's literally a case of 'plug n go'.

What kind of speeds can I expect from mobile broadband?

As with fixed line and cable broadband services, mobile broadband speeds can differ. Generally mobile broadband speeds will start at around 1.8mbps and are able to reach around 7.2mbps, depending on your provider, signal quality etc..

I sometimes get the message '404 - Page not found' when trying to access a web-page, is there something wrong with my broadband?

Absolutely not. A '404' error message means that the browser cannot find the web page you're trying to view. This message generally appears if a web address is wrong or you have clicked on a broken link. But there is nothing wrong with your connection, so there is no need to worry!

What does it mean if there is a flashing light on my modem?

A flashing light could mean that your modem is not properly locating a signal. Make sure the modem is correctly connected, with ADSL filters in their relevant sockets. If proper connection corrects matters and your ADSL light remains static, your problem should be resolved.

How do I set up my broadband after signing up?

Once you have signed up with 5G, you will be given a designated 'go live' date. In the mean time we will send you all the equipment you will need, along with the necessary instructions to set help set it all up. You should NOT attempt to connect your equipment before your 'go live' date.

Why does my broadband keep disconnecting itself?

Your broadband should stay on continuously, unless you tell it otherwise. So, if it keeps disconnecting for no reason, there may be a problem with your connectivity. Consult 5G's dedicated technical support team for any broadband connection queries.
